Flickr decided to let me upload some more pictures, so there's some more stuff on there. Some you've probably seen, and some you probably haven't seen....

  - hot damn it's a nice day.... -

As much as I like the occasional rainy day, they don't quite beat a really nice spring day like today. 70 degrees and sunny, I was sweating a little bit wearing a sweatshirt walking to class. The heat is off at home and the windows are open. There were MUCH more people walking around outside on campus, and the girls are starting to wear shorts and t-shirts again.... so even if they don't talk to me the scenery is still much better... Little green buds have appeared on the tree branches, and all the formerly empty flowerbeds have been remulched and have sprouted the beginnings of flowers. Overall it's just a pleasant atmosphere outside, which is a nice change.

  - i'm wicked tired -

I keep telling myself that "wicked" is going to be my new favorite word to use, but I never remember to use it.... but I'm going to from now on I swear.....

There are no lab partners in general Chem, which is wicked cool. You get all your own equipment to work with and do all your own work. The worst thing about Bio lab was always having to work with someone, and I was always having to explain to them what the hell we're doing because they were too retarded to figure it out or pay attention to the instructor.

But I haven't actually been to lab yet.... that's later today, so we'll see how it goes.

  - i'm a grumpy motherfucker -

Well actually not so much today as I was yesterday, but still, I've been better. Yesterday was the first day of class, and things seemed pretty annoying. Latin class was really crowded (there are about 25 students taking it, and two sections of class available: there were 20 people in the section I am in, and 5 in the other section), my Math lecture was just plain boring, and Chemistry seems like it's going to be hard. There was a quiz in the recitation yesterday to see if everyone was ready for the class, and I had never heard any of the crap on it. But I think only about half the class has had Chem before, so I'm probably not the only dummy in there at the moment.

I went to the bookstore and spent $165 for a couple books.... I didn't buy the Chemistry book yet because they only had it new and it was $175. So I'm going to try and find it used somewhere so I can have a little bit of money left for food..... Yes, it looks like if I want to keep on eating and paying my bills I'm going to have to get a job this quarter. Paying the bills has drained my bank account faster than I thought it was. Even without spending money on cigarettes.... which is another thing.

When I decided to quit again I had 6 of the step 2 patches left from last time I quit... so I used them, and I took the last one off Sunday, planning on going to the store and getting more. But since I'm incredibly lazy and didn't want to go to the store and spend money on them, I decided to see how long I could last without them and if it got bad I would go get some. So I've been cigarette AND patch-free for the past 2 days, which is annoying as fuck. It's only mildly annoying at home, but I definitely think about it more often than I would were I wearing a patch, but at school it's awful. I see other people smoking everywhere, and I can smell it, and I'm walking around outside a lot trying to kill time between classes, and it seems like everything is making me want to smoke. Not that I think I'm going to, but it just makes for a very grumpy Goob.

Anyways... today is a little better. Some of the people in Latin switched to the other section, so now it's a little less crowded (even though I'm mostly with students from the other section last quarter and don't know anyone... and it's the same teacher they had last quarter, so she knows them and they know her and everything), my math recitation was fine, even though still a little boring, it has a cool Chinese TA teaching it. I like Chinese people, they're funny.... I don't know why.... Now I'm sitting here on a two and a half hour break until my Chemistry lecture. Hopefully I'll get a better idea of what the class will be like from that.... I need to go check out some of the off-campus bookstores and see if I can find a used copy of my book. Of course it'll still probably be like $135, so I'm going to feel awful spending that much money on a damn book that I'll only have for about 10 weeks... goddamn ripoff, I hate buying books - it's completely ridiculous.

I'm sure I could find more to bitch about, but I don't really feel like it at the moment. I wish I had something fun and happy to talk about, but I don't. I got a really good documentary on DVD the other day, that made me happy..... (i bought it before i remembered that a new quarter means spending hundreds of dollars on books....) it's about Tigers - but not just a boring documentary about wild tigers - it's about some guys teaching some captive-born tigers how to hunt on their own in Africa. It's good.... very cool stuff....

Alright, I'll leave you alone now... I have to find something more time consuming to do anyways.... still have over an hour and a half..... Ok. Go 'way now.

  - no more sleeping in -

Back to school tomorrow, and back to getting up at 6:45 every morning. Yay. Well at least I won't be freezing my ass off walking around campus this quarter. Word. I'll let you know if anything interesting happens.

And here's what happens when you get really bored and play with photoshop while listening to Alkaline Trio. Pretty ghetto looking flames eh? Oh well, it's late and I was just messing around for shits and giggles. Someday I'll actually learn how to use it and I'll be able to do cool stuff with pictures.

I was playing around with Photoshop and this is what I came up with before I got bored. I copied Mike's colored-in eye thing, but I think it looks neat.

The Trio is back on tour this spring, and will be at Bogarts on April 22nd. Which is a Saturday. Who's going with me? Cause I plan to be there.

  - they finally have names -

Mike suggested I name my two Borneo girls after locations and landmarks on Borneo. So unless I come up with a better idea this girl will be named Sabah (a Malaysian state), and the other girl will be Samarinda (a city).

I'm on spring break and we're supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. That's not very fun.... Glad I decided not to go camping.

  - Smelly and Grapevines -

I found out recently that Smelly goes nutty for grapevine things.... she won't leave me alone when I'm trying to eat them, and then when I'm done I give it to her and she goes crazy and plays with it until she stuffs it under the stove and loses it. It's pretty funny to see her carrying it around in her mouth.

  - two A's so far... one class left -

Wow... I just checked my math final grade and I got a 100% on the final. I know it's just algebra, but there was one question that I completely forgot how to do, so I just made up my own way to figure it out and hoped it came up with the right answer. I guess it did. Not bad for only going to the first two lectures of the quarter. Let's hope my Latin final tomorrow goes equally as well...

  - rain rain rain.... -

It's raining like a mofo again today... with severe weather warnings and a flood watch. I tried to get some pictures of the rain but they didn't turn out too good. Everything just looks wet. But the little courtyard area outside my apartment is starting to turn into a giant puddle, hopefully it turns into a big lake and I can go swimming... ha ha ha. I do live less than a mile from the river though... Glad I don't have to drive anywhere today. But I have to go down to campus tonight for my math final. I suppose I should look over the midterms and refresh my memory on some of the properties and equations and all that.

  - My Girl's Getting Big -

I remember when this girl was a tiny little baby always trying to bite me.... now she's over 3 feet and getting pretty heavy.  But she's the sweetest snake in the world.

  - And here's Richard Parker -

He seems to be getting fatter instead of longer.... but he's a boy, he probably won't get as long as the girls.

We got a bit of a good thunderstorm last night.... that was fun. I woke up in the middle of the night and I could hear it pouring, so I opened the blinds in my room and watched the lightning for a while until I eventually fell back asleep. Smelly seemed a little scared of the thunder though. When I opened the blinds she went over to look out the window, but then after the first big lightning bolt and clap of thunder she ran around to the other side of me and laid down next to me.

I don't have much else to say at the moment, as I'm pretty much just being a bum this weekend and doing nothing. I think I'll go make something to eat....

  - my thoughts on water falling from the sky -

There's supposedly the possibility of severe weather tonight.... I say bring it on. I love a good thunderstorm. All the noise and lightning and wind and buckets of rain... I think it's awesome. Here's the reason I think I like rain so much - I've watched too many nature documentaries. Especially the ones about Africa, when during the dry season all the waterholes slowly dry up and disappear, the rivers and streams become little trickles of water, plants start to die and the ones that don't get eaten, animals move off in a desperate search for water, and lots of animals perish. But then a thundercloud appears on the horizon, a few drops of rain fall, and then down it comes, bringing the entire land back to life. I can only imagine how good it feels to all those animals when the rain finally comes back and brings food and water and a cool place to swim. So I try to appreciate rain instead of cursing it and trying to avoid it. I don't use umbrellas, ever - I don't even have one. Like in the movie Instinct, when he's with the gorillas in the rain, and he's holding this big leaf over his head trying to keep dry, and he looks over and all the gorillas are just sitting around chillin in the rain. So he realizes how silly and human it is to try to keep off the rain, and throws the leaf away and enjoys the shower. Of course this isn't Africa, and there is no real dry season here, but still, I don't like to think of that as a nuisance, but sort of a blessing if you will.

Well we just finished a rousing game of Latin Jeopardy. I think we're going to play some more tomorrow, we didn't even get halfway through the board today. Review time can be fun sometimes. Plus it's for extra credit on the final. Anyways... time to go catch the bus home and take a nap.

  - ahhhh.... sweet relief... -

So the presentation has been given, with no horrible or embarrassing incidents. And this time with no extra meds to help me out. And I'm damn happy about it. Ok, so I wasn't the best speaker in the class, but that's not what I care about. I'm just relieved that I did it, and I didn't freak out, and I did a decent job at least, and now it's over. I don't have to worry about it as I'm trying to go to sleep, imagining every worst-case scenario. And next time I have a presentation to give, I'll know that I can do it perfectly well and maybe it won't cause me as much anxiety as this one has. Ok I promised I'd let you know how it went, so there you go.

  - Smelly's Fort -

Ok, so Smelly has this old ugly sheet that she likes to play in. I just leave it on the floor, and she hides her toys in it, and crawls under it and hides and stuff. But back at my parents house she always used to get under this little table with a tablecloth that went all the way to the floor. So I thought I would drape her sheet over the stool and her scratching post to see if she would like having a little fort like I used to make when I was a kid. She loves it... it's hilarious. She sleeps under there, and when we're playing she'll all of a sudden take off and run into the fort, and then a couple minutes later she'll come running out of it and attack me and stuff. And yes, that's the General Lee holding down the sheet on the bookshelf.

  - titles are for chumps -

Man, I really don't want to be here today.... it's soo close to the end of the quarter and all I want to do is get some sleep. At least I don't have any more homework to do now, just some studying.

I'm getting in a delivery of some bigger rats either today or tomorrow, so my snakes will all be happy. No more tiny meals for them, they're actually going to be full after they finish a meal now...

Yeah..., so it's a good thing I didn't give my presentation Monday, because I practiced it when I got home and it was wayyy too short. I didn't practice it before I went to class, I just used what she told us the proper word length was for a five minute presentation, and she must be insane or else she talks really damn slowly. So I had to add a bunch and practice it a few times to get it to be five minutes. Anyways... I'll let you know how it goes.

Well time to go back out into the drizzle and go to class, I'll be back later. That's a great word.... drizzle....

  - why do they call them blood pythons you ask? -

This is why... this little girl was pretty bland looking as a baby, but she's getting better looking every day, and she's not even a year old yet. A perfect example of why you should buy snakes from a good breeder... she's going to be a screamer in another year when she REALLY starts to get some more colour.

p.s. I didn't give my presentation today... there wasn't enough time for everyone. Which is good I think, since after hearing some others I realised that mine was pretty subpar. So I have a couple days to fix it up and I'll give it Wednesday.

  - spring? maybe? please? -

I've been so distracted lately that I haven't even checked the weather forecast for a while. But I just looked, and in the coming 10 days they have six straight days of rain forecasted, with temps in the upper 50's and 60's. Seems like the start of spring to me, but I don't want to jinx anything... Next Saturday the high they have is 67, so I just thought I would throw that up here now so if the weather man turns out to be lying again I can bitch some more. Well I must go get some sleep - I have to face my biggest fear tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it. I'll have more tomorrow sometime...

  - the only reason I even put a title here is because it makes the post look better... -

There's no point in giving titles to most of my posts, but I'm all about aesthetics. Gotta have the red title there to break up all the black text... The new episode of Lost is available on iTunes today. They didn't have one last week so it's been two weeks since the last episode which just left me hanging.... I just overheard some people talking about it, and the guy said it was really good and there was a lot in it.... so hopefully I'll get more information than they left me with in the last one. Well I won't bore you with any more pointless ramblings... I just have to post something sometimes to make me feel like I did something instead of just sit here and stare at my computer. Later people...

  - The Weather Man is a Lying Bastard -

The quarter is almost over.... hooray! I hate the end of the quarter though, lots of last minute stuff to do and getting ready for finals... I have to rework part of my paper, not because it was bad, but because the teacher just wants to push me to write some really awesome paper to present at their folklore conference. But I don't really care enough to really want to think about it even more... I thought if I wrote a good paper the first time around I wouldn't have to change anything... not have to do more...

I'm mad at the barstards at the Weather Channel. A while ago they were forcasting temperatures of like 60 for today, but then every day when I looked at the forecast it was a couple degrees cooler, and today the high is like 45 or something. I was looking forward to some nice weather for like a week and then it doesn't show up. If they don't know, then they should just forecast shitty weather, so if it DOES end up being nice, then it's a pleasant surprise for everyone. Oh well, I'll still take 45 over like 30, at least it's above freezing.

It's snake breeding season, and everyone on the forums is posting updates and pictures of their snakes "doing it." Which means that pretty soon they'll all be posting pictures of eggs, then pictures of babies, and I won't be able to get any of them... I bought too many snakes last season. It's going to be tough, there's going to be a lot of nice baby snakes that I will want... But I guess I'll just have to wait a year or two and breed my own snakes. It would be nice to get another male Borneo and a Female Black though.... but alas, the ones I have are proving to be expensive enough... they're all moving up to small adult rats already, and they're a bit more pricey than the rat pups.

I'm looking forward to spring break... even though I can't afford to go anywhere. I think I'll just spend some time in Cincy, and hang out here and relax and try to play my guitar more. I got a capo the other day and it's pretty neat, so I was playing for a while last night with it.

Well my connection is all screwed up again, so I'm going to try to get back on so I can post this before I type any more and end up losing it all. Oh there we go, it's back. Well anyways... I don't really have much else to say at the moment, so that's it for me today.
