  - Some Good News So Far -

Ok well yesterday I had an absolutely horrible day. My Latin teacher was really angry with the class after getting halfway through grading the midterms, and she said she was too mad to even finish grading them, and she was going to double our workload because the grades were so low. So that sort of ruined my day right from the start. And then I got stuck in the freezing cold rain waiting 15 minutes for the bus to go back last evening to take my maths exam. Not fun.... it got quite chilly last evening, and I was pretty wet.

But..... today I got my Latin test back, and I didn't do too bad. I got an 89%, which is possibly the highest in the class, and I'm pretty much exempt from a bunch of extra work she assigned for the people who didn't do well. They all have a huge worksheet to do over the weekend, but she said I'm free to go play. And I got a 95% in maths, but I'm actually a little disappointed with that. But I'm sure not going to complain either. So provided I didn't do horribly in Chem, I feel much much better about things.

Well that's all for now.... just thought I'd share some good news from my boring little world, and now I'm off to class again.

  - Round One of Midterms...... -

...is almost over. I had Latin and Chem today, and tomorrow is Math. I think the ones today went alright, but I'll find out in the next couple days if that's true or not. The quarter's almost halfway over.... I can't wait to be done with it....

He he he... the episode of Family Guy where their bar gets turned into a British pub is on. I guess I shouldn't make fun of British people anymore though.... but it's too funny of an episode not to laugh...

Well I'm probably coming home this weekend, but that may be the last weekend I come home for the quarter. All the money I had saved up before I moved is pretty much gone, and I don't want to work while Abs is here, so I'll have to spend my weekends working to get some money saved up again. Maybe working again will actually be good for me. Perhaps if I actually get out of the apartment and do something productive I'll get motivated to do more productive stuff.

Well I suppose I should get off to bed... Just thought I would try to update my blog a little more often for anyone who may read it that I don't talk to on a regular basis.... I hope everyone is well and having fun....

p.s. you know what's funny? I just ran the spell check on my post, and the word "blog" isn't in their dictionary... you would think Blogger would have "blog" in their spellcheck dictionary.... but I guess not

  - The Mighty Alkaline Trio -

Well yesterday was an eventful day. After getting up and going to school in the morning, and trying to take a nap but not getting any sleep, Mike and I drove to Cleveland to see the great Alkaline Trio. We got there early, so we decided to go downtown and walk around a bit. We ended up in the theater district, where they had a big part of a street closed off and were apparently filming a movie. And of course it started pouring down rain. But we were going to get wet no matter what, so we said screw it and decided to head towards the lake and get some pictures. Along the way we took a bunch of goofy pictures Mike plans to use in a movie thing he's going to make, saw some bagpipers, saw the lake, and ran around the city in the rain. Then we headed on to the show......

It was quite a good show..... they played for almost two hours, which was great. Lots of their acoustic songs, which they didn't play last time we saw them, and I like very much. Lots of their older stuff, and then some newer stuff. And this time I had a great view, instead of looking around the back of someones head..... it was at an old theater, so we went up on the balcony with the old folks and got a great view of the whole thing.

Then the drive back..... I swear every time I have a long drive somewhere, it has to rain so hard you can barely see a thing. It did on the way up there, then on the way back home, and on plenty of road trips I've been on.... always pouring rain....

Well that's all for now.... I have to get some studying done this weekend for midterms on Monday. Stay tuned to Mike's blog for pictures from the trip.

  - he he he he he......... -

My new game is to steal as much newspaper as I can from campus..... ha ha ha.... I've got a bunch stuffed in my bag, and everytime I pass a stack of them I swipe a couple more.... of course they're free anyway, but I don't think you're supposed to take 20 of them to use in your snakes' cages. For some reason it seems funny to me.... every time I take some I chuckle a bit... I guess I'll use whatever I can find to entertain myself. Or maybe it's the thought of my snakes pooping on the stories of the smug college journalists (no offense Abs).

  - I think I'll stick with the normal font -

Ok well I'm feeling much better about chemistry and school in general today..... let's hope it lasts. I finally got some studying done last night, and it's making sense now. I should have practiced some more problems to get it down more, but I was tired so I went to bed. At least I understand what's going on now though. I think the problem was that it's basically all math right now, with conversions and balancing chemical equations and stoichiometry and crap, and I didn't even know what the units of measurement were.... he he he.... plus the magnitude of the numbers in scientific notation is something I haven't really seen since like junior high, and I've never learned to do dimensional analysis for conversions like they do it in this class. I guess I shouldn't get too excited until I take our quiz later today.... My Latin quiz this morning went well though I think, even though I didn't get a chance to study for it like I was hoping I would. Of course we have a quiz in Latin pretty much every day, so it's not exactly a big deal.

Over the weekend I was looking around online at parks and stuff in Columbus, just to see if there are any fun places to go play. There are quite a few parks.... the Columbus Parks Department actually has a pretty good website. And there's a couple frisbee golf courses.... so I'm going to have to get me some frisbees and go play sometime... I've always wanted to play on a real course, but never have. Just made up courses behind Pizza Hut. Although it was pretty fun running around outside throwing frisbees at stop signs and dumpsters when you're supposed to be making pizzas..... There's also a long trail kinda like the Little Miami bike trail, and a little nature preserve and some other stuff... I'm not sure why any of you would really care all that much, but it's my blog so deal with it. Don't you know I only do this to kill time between classes?

Why the hell were the Reds giving Pujols good pitches when they were up by a run in the 9th inning? What did they think was going to happen? God damn.....

Well I suppose I should mosey on over to math class. I like math lecture because I don't have to think..... I just sit there and daydream for 48 minutes and then all of a sudden it's over....

  - Things I Hate About Spring -

1. Bradford Pear Trees - Those white-flowered, stinky-as-hell trees that are all over and make being anywhere near them unbearable

2. Bees - Especially the giant bumblebees that were just hovering all around me a couple minutes ago

  - in other news..... -

I didn't get my long post in this Tuesday..... but luckily for you I also have 2 1/2 hours to kill on Thursdays!! Which I should really be spending reading my chemistry book. This quarter hasn't been off to the best start. I've been really distracted and lazy so far, and I'm afraid I've fallen behind quite a bit, at least in Chem. I was hoping it would be like all my other classes, where I just show up for lectures and glance over my notes before a test and I do fine. But it's not. There's a lot of shit that's completely foreign to me, and lots of stuff to memorize, and I haven't been putting any effort into it so far. If this was the only Chem class I had to take I wouldn't be too worried, but I have to have all this stuff down for future classes. Plus I just don't like not knowing stuff.... makes me feel dumb, and I want to know everything about everything...... ha ha ha ha. But I just want this quarter to be over so badly that I'm finding it hard to get motivated to pick up the books. I guess I'm just going to have to kick myself and quit being a lazy barstard.

So other than that, everything is pretty swell. The weather's nice - All the snakes seem happy and fat - Smelly is being good and wearing her collar - I still haven't smoked and rarely even think about it - I'm having fun playing my guitar a bunch - And I'm very much looking forward to this summer.

I don't think I really have enough to say to write a really long post today. That's pretty much it. So I guess that's all I have for you today. Maybe later I'll feel more talkative.......

  - Miscellany & Et Cetera -

So I'm back in Columbus and back at school once more. My crazy cat is acting like I was gone for a year and won't leave me alone, which is kind of annoying at times but it's also nice to have her be so affectionate. I had a good weekend, and got to see a movie and a baseball game (pictures here)..... and the family is good and everyone is healthy.

But I think I'm going to kill my new neighbor....... some guy moved in and he's loud as hell.... he has a big motorcycle on his porch, but he doesn't ever ride it that I've seen, he just starts it up and lets it run on the porch and revs the engine...... and it's the LOUDEST FUCKING MOTORCYCLE I'VE EVER HEARD...... the first time I heard it I thought someone was driving a monster truck through the parking lot or something..... but it's just some redneck with a motorcycle on his goddamn porch...... and even after he finally shuts it off, all the dogs in that complex bark and howl non-stop for the next half hour. So if you hear about me being in jail for vandalizing a motorcycle.... now you know why......

Ok that's all for now. Time to head on over to math class......

  - Bad Kitty!!!!! -

Smelly was a bad girl last night...... she pushed out a screen and went out the window. So now she's going to be wearing a collar at all times, and I'll be much more careful about having the windows open. Poor little girl just wants to explore, but she needs to learn that she can't just go out whenever she wants.....

  - Tuesdays equal Long Post -

I'm back for another day, and another exciting week of scholarly pursuit. And I promise not to talk about the weather this time.... :)
For any of you who are wondering or even interested, it's been over 2 weeks without a cigarette. And no cigarettes means NO cigarettes, no cheating this time and counting one cigarette a week as none. As for being off the patch, I've been completely nicotine free for about nine days. I think I've figured out the biggest problem I have with quitting smoking. It's jealousy. Yes, jealousy. See, if no one else in the world smoked, or everyone else had to quit too, then I would have no problem at all. I have no real physical cravings or need for a cigarette. I'm doing completely fine with that. But the fact is that other people do smoke still, and I have to see them. And when I do see them, it makes me angry because they get to smoke and I don't. While I may not have physical cravings for a smoke, I do have pleasant memories of smoking, and it was quite enjoyable to me. So when I am reminded of those memories by seeing someone smoking or getting a whiff of someone's cigarette, it makes me angry that I don't get to enjoy that anymore (yes, I realize that I could smoke anytime I want, but when I say I can't, I mean I won't). So yes.... jealousy and anger at those barstards who can afford to buy cigarettes and who aren't worried about their health is what gets to me. Because I want to still be one of them, but I've moved on. While I say I'm doing this for my snakes, which is true, there are also many other reasons that I just can't keep ignoring, my own well-being included. I want to be able to go bike riding or hiking or jogging and enjoy it.
I think jealousy and greed are just two forms of self-centeredness, which is a big problem among drunks. It's definitely something I try to be aware of, and avoid when possible. But I still consider myself to be pretty self-centered - I like to buy myself stuff and do stuff that I enjoy, but I try not to put my wants over other people's needs all the time. If that makes any sense.... I try to be a good all-around person and make other people happy and feel good about themselves when I can.... I don't really know where I'm going with this, so I think I'll stop there.

Ok enough of that. What about school? Nothing all that exciting to report... I had to buy another calculator which pisses me off. You have to buy a super-expensive calculator for math class, then your other classes say that it's too fancy and you're not allowed to use it, so you have to go buy the one they want you to use, and I'm sure at some point I'll have another class that says I can only use the one they like.... At least I already have the expensive one, and the one I had to get for Chemistry was only $15. Other than that, school is school. I like Tuesdays though, it's a pretty easy day with a nice long break for me to post long annoying blogs.

Lately I've been listening to a lot more of the old pop-punk stuff again, like MTX, Screeching Weasel and The Lillingtons. I don't know why the Lillingtons weren't/aren't more popular. They've got some great songs. But I think the reason for getting back into all that is partially from looking up songs on Myspace, and partially from playing guitar more lately. I can't play any of the really good, musical stuff I've been listening in more recent times, and it's not as fun to play either. I like playing good ol' punk rock. It makes you feel good. Like Abs slam-dancing, playing does it for me. That's the best thing about punk rock - the energy and the rush you get from it.
In spite of all that..... I've been singing Jimmy Buffett songs in my head for the past few days..... and I don't know why. Not that it's a problem, it's just not what I usually have playing on the record player in my head..... Oh and I noticed he's touring...... I thought he had his "final" tour a few years back..... or did I just imagine that? Either way it doesn't matter I suppose, I don't think I could go to a Buffett show sober. I don't think you're even allowed to.....

I got a nice surprise yesterday which turned into a horrible one..... I got home from school and was looking for something to watch, and saw that a Reds game was on. So I started watching it and realized it was opening day. That's fun, right? It was in the 4th or 5th inning when I turned it on, and the Reds were only down by a run, and then they tied it up. But anyone who saw the 6th inning will know what happened next. I'm not going to give the whole story, but it was awful. I just hope it's not an indication of how the rest of the season's going to go.....

Well I guess that's all for now. I thought laptop batteries lasted longer, but this one's starting to get a little low. And I have to use the restroom..... So I hope everyone is having a nice day, and I'll talk to you/type at you later.....

  - DST -

I wasn't aware that daylight savings time switched tonight. I was sitting here watching a movie, and I looked at the clock and it was like 1:5o. I got online to look something up, and I was on the computer for a while, and when I was done I looked at the clock again and it was 3:20. Needless to say, I was a little baffled. I wasn't on the computer THAT long, how the hell could it be 3:20 already? What the hell is going on? Damn I should get to bed if it's really that late, but there's no way that's right..... I just recently noticed that the clock on the wall didn't match the clock on the cable box, and realized what was going on. That sucks..... DST is only cool in the fall when we gain an hour.... Barstards. Well since it's now almost morning, I really should get to bed.
