- School and Other Stuff -So anyway.... here's an update on school and everything. I'm back down to four classes and one lab. I went ahead and dropped chemistry, which I added after I dropped psych, since I realized that I don't really need a fifth class, and it would make my life about 10 times easier. So now I have tuesdays off, and just my Biology lab on thursdays, which is still 3 hours long. Mon. Wed. Fri. I have Math, Physics, and "Age of Dinosaurs", then a two hour break, and finally my Biology lecture class. This way I get to sleep in on tuesday and thursday.
So for my birthday I got an iPod. I have to say it's pretty damn cool. I've already ripped all my cds onto my computer (took me 3 full evenings of sitting at my computer for hours), and put all of them plus all the mp3s I had on my computer onto the iPod. It's amazing, all that music only took up about 1/3 of the space on the thing. It's 2140 songs. If you listened to it for 24 hours a day it would take over 4 days to go through every song. And I put some pictures on it too, since they combined the regular iPod and the photo iPod into one now. In order to listen to it in the car though, I bought a little FM transmitter thing that you plug into the iPod and it puts the music out on an FM frequency. You just tune your car radio to that frequency and viola, any album I want without the hassle of trying to flip through my cd case and find the cd and then put the other cd away and get the new one in all while driving down the highway in rush hour traffic. The sound quality isn't perfect since it's on an FM radio frequency, but it sounds pretty good. Well...... that's about it I suppose, I think I'm going to go get a snack. I haven't eaten yet today. Ok well have fun everyone, I'll post something interesting if it ever happens. -chris-i posted this at 5:27 PM --- 1 people care enough to comment
- Those crazy Germans.... -Here's some funny stuff. I had my first Biology Lab today, and the TA that's teaching it is German. And I don't just mean of German descent, but heavy-accent-just-came-here-from-Germany German. She was going through her Powerpoint slides with the syllabus and all the rules and everything, and she had this as one of her slides. Maybe it's just me but I thought it was pretty damn funny. i posted this at 5:24 PM --- 3 people care enough to comment

- God Damn...... I'm getting old - So I had another birthday recently..... Thursday to be exact, and I'm now 24 years old. I know anyone older than that is saying "24? Damn, that's not old", but I still feel old as hell. Gone are the carefree days of just hanging out with friends without worrying about the future. Actually I'm paying for those days now, trying to get something resembling a future going again after fucking things up pretty good over the past 6 years or so. I suppose you can chalk it up to life experience and say it builds character, which is what I do to make myself feel better. But when you get down to it I'm still 24 and just getting back into college and pretty much starting fresh. Living with my parents. No girlfriend. No good social skills that would help me get a girlfriend either....... I called my blog "The Boring World of Goob" as a warning, not as a joke..... School does make me feel a little better I suppose, since I plan on being a big science geek biologist someday. Though being this old makes me feel like I should be taking upper level classes and helping the professors with research, not sitting in Bio 101 with 250 annoying freshman. To me that's a bit humiliating, but at the same time I can't say I know all the material, and technically I'm just as dumb as those freshman when it comes to learning about cellular respiration. Before this quarter started, my parents said that I would be starting a new chapter in my life. I didn't really see how it was that big of a deal, I just thought it was one of those dumb things parents say. But now I guess they were right. Finishing school is going to be a long journey that I probably won't enjoy much of, and it's not going to be easy. People warned me about Biology. But there's really not anything else that I would want to do. Or at least not that I would be willing to spend 3-4 years in school to do. You know, typing this is really getting me depressed. People always say "Oh life will get better", but I really don't think I believe them anymore. Looking at other people as they age, finish school, get real jobs, they don't seem any happier. If anything it seems to me like things get progressively worse. God I really hope that's not true. Well I'm tired of typing, and just plain tired. I'm going to go say hi to my snakes and have an entirely too long conversation with my cat. They always seem to cheer me up. -chris-

- MORE SNAKES? JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!! -Ok well I think I have all the snakes I need for now. I don't really have any room to put any more easily, and I'm up to 8. So I now have 3 Blood Pythons, 3 Borneo Short-Tailed Pythons, and I just got these 2 Sumatran Short-Tailed Pythons, AKA Black Blood Pythons. This one is the male, he's a bit older than the girl. photo (c) goobi posted this at 3:46 PM --- 0 people care enough to comment
- Hiking Trip in the good ol' Smokies -So me and Mike took a hiking trip recently, which was quite a difference from how we used to go camping. We used to drive to wherever we were going, get a site at a campground, set everything up, build a fire, cook hotdogs, listen to cds, get drunk, get in a fight, then the next day Mike would be pissed cause I don't wake up as early as he does and I feel like shit and don't feel like hiking 20 miles up a damn sand dune. This time we pretty much had the bare essentials, started hiking as soon as we got our stuff packed up, hiked about 3-4 miles a day (which is a decent distance in the mountains), drank filtered creek water instead of beer, and somehow didn't get into any real fights or arguments. It was a lot more work than the old style of camping, but I liked it. Ok maybe not the last day, which was our longest hike, and up the steepest part of the mountain, but the rest was pretty cool. Here are a few of the many pictures I took, more can be seen on Mike's page (see links dummy).i posted this at 3:30 AM --- 0 people care enough to comment
A view from where we started our hike. Elevation something like 6650 feet. I know what you're thinking, "You started at the top of the mountain?" and no, I don't recommend it. photo (c) goobi posted this at 3:23 AM --- 0 people care enough to comment
- Party with the Motherfuckin Queers -
As most of you know and were present for, the Queers played a surprise party for my friend Mike's 30th birthday coming up. Arranged by his wife Nina and with the help of some friends, I'd say it was a big success. A lot of fun and definitely the best Queers show you can get. Anyways.... here's some pictures for you all to enjoy, even though you were probably there.
