- Feeding Night for the Snakes -If a stranger ever looked in my freezer or saw my countertop right now, they would think I'm a very strange person. But then again I guess I am..... photo (c) goobi posted this at 8:32 PM ---

Quite a mixture of dead rodents you have there. Are they all mice or are some rats? I can't tell from here...
All rats. A mix of rat pups, just weaned rats, and small adults. Richard Parker, who normally will only eat live mice, ate a thawed rat tonight, which is good. I guess after a month with no food he got hungry enough to quit being picky.
Ah, I thought they looked pretty big to be mice but I wasn't sure. Do you get live rats too or would that be too dangerous for the snake? You can get those here, but they'd not be considered snake food. Which snake is Richard Parker then?
Richard Parker is the male Borneo. Usually he won't eat the dead ones, so I have to go to the pet store to get him a live mouse or rat. I thought it was illegal to feed a reptile live prey over there? Most pet stores here have all different sizes of live mice and rats, and they realize that people get them as food for other stuff.
Ah, but you could get round that with rats, because they do sell live rats as pets. As long as they didn't ask you what you were going to do with the rat, you could probably get away with it.
I think they would probably start wondering why you keep getting a new pet rat every week though...... actually I bet some places/pet shop employees wouldn't even care. Even though I got yelled at from a girl at a pet shop once here...... I asked for a mouse, and she grabbed one out of the cage, and I said that it was a little small and asked if she could grab a bigger one... and she said "god , this is the part of the job i hate, having to give these poor little mice to people like you." I about smacked her. Shit like that pisses me off.
She said that? That's really, really bad! Its probably easier to get the dead stuff then, if the people are going to be all funny about it. But then the snakes have got to eat and if they're used to live prey...
