The Boring World of Goob

  - Uggghhhhh..... -

I have to start writing my paper soon... and I really don't want to. I'll have to actually think about what I'm writing for this... and my teacher is expecting some big fantastic paper. I should really learn to keep people's expectations low before a final project and stuff.

Comments:
My friend Mo thinks you're seriously cute, Goob.
If you ever come over to England I'll have to fix you up...if we've not all died of bird 'flu first, of course...

Ha ha ha... ok. I don't imagine I'll be in England any time soon though.....

-grin-
Cool. That's sorted then! -tee hee hee-

You know, I was trying to think of reasons I would ever go to England, and no offense, but I couldn't think of any. Maybe if I ever went to Ireland or something I would see England as well, but I can't think of anything over there I want to see that bad. Maybe castles though.... I like old castles...

ha HA HAHAHAHAHA
nothing to visit in England...
ha hahahaha
nah im just jealous...
how come no one ever thinks I'm cute...
even my own mother says blech...
[drops head]
*sigh*
d'ja start the paper yet goober?
or are you gonna wait till the last minute on this one, hoping for some divine inspiration?
How long does it have to be? I can't see writing more than two or so pages on Mike... HA!

whispered: I reckon it's 'cos he thinks Mo might not be pretty, but she is...
Hell, maybe you should come over SIB, she might like you too...

um, thanks for the pity invite

(brightly) hey, any time! -grin-
Y'know if you want a free holiday (ok, so you call them "vacations") you just come on over.
'Sides, I've known you longer -grin-

I call them holidays too
probably just to be different, but that's what they are...
fuck christmas and easter...
anytime I get to leave the monotony of my house, job, life, that's a holiday...

Just for you, Goob, I found this on Yahoo today:

The UK is the world's favourite nation but its people are the "most boring", according to an international poll.

More than 25,000 people from 35 countries rated "brand UK" as tops in a survey that considered individual nations' culture, people, and tourism potential.

Views of countries' popularity as a place to invest in or migrate to were also sought in the poll, carried out by international marketing company GMI and branding expert Simon Anholt.

But while UK citizens were considered to be the most polite and best educated, they were also rated the most boring.
The French were seen as the rudest and Americans the most ignorant and ambitious.

The UK's overall number one position came after it was voted first on investment, third on sports and cultural heritage, fourth for having "highly-skilled citizens", and eighth for tourism.

Second in the overall top brand list was Switzerland, with Canada third, Italy fourth and Sweden fifth.

Of countries surveyed, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic were among the most positive towards the UK's tourism assets, while India voted the UK second overall for tourism.

As many as 64% of the 25,907 people in the survey said they would be "very likely" to visit Britain's museums and galleries during a trip to Britain.

Mr Anholt said: "Brand UK continues to rank high because its scores are so consistently good in most categories and in most countries. Other countries get better scores here and there, but the UK hardly gets a low score from anyone - expect from Christopher Barron of Ohio."

Ha ha ha.... Yes I would agree your country does give the impression of being very boring. And I have no real interest in visiting museums and galleries. And I have no money to invest in your country. But don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to badmouth the UK (or am I?), I just prefer to visit places with great natural beauty, good weather, and interesting culture. I've seen pictures of the ocean cliffs... they don't seem that great, everyone I know who's been there says the weather sucks, and British culture seems... well.... boring.

And it is sad that America was cinsidered the most ignorant. I really can't argue with that, our general population is made up of 90% complete morons, but I think we also produce some brilliant scientists/artists/writers etc.

The thing that sucks about America is that for everything that's great about it, there's at least one thing that sucks about it. But most of it doesn't pop up in everyday life, so overall I'd say it's pretty nice here.

Well Canada was third on the list, that's pretty close... maybe I'll just move there like I used to say I was going to do. We'll see what happens in the next election.

Boring?
Goob, every word you write strikes a dagger deeper into my heart.
I love my little country because it is, actually, founded by radicals and eccentrics; has produced a nation of explorers and artists; great writers; thinkers; is a country of outstanding natural beauty, which actively celebrates being off-beat and I AM GLAD TO BE PART OF THAT!
It may appear boring to you, from the outside, and that is fine. But I have lived here for most of my life and I beg to differ.

Um...and sorry if that sounded like a personal attack. It wasn't intended to come across that way.
No 'fence meant -grin-

That's all I was saying is that it seems boring to me... I have never been there obviously, and I know it's not a stupid country or a country that doesn't have anything worthwhile. Just nothing I can think of that would be worth me flying across the ocean to see. All I know of the UK is what the few people I know who have been there have told me, and from the Tv (which on American Tv usually is making fun of it).
No offense taken, and no offense meant on my part, I was just commenting on the article that you posted. All was meant in good humour. (see I even spell things your way half the time now....)

Yes.
Humour.
Bastard.
Hey - and do you know these?: "tyre" for the wheel-things on your car...
"Cheque" for the kind you write out when you buy something; a "hole in the wall" is an ATM; ... and, my favoUrite ... "hostess"; a high-class hooker.
Yeah! -grin-
